Do I have to ride a Mustang to join ride?
No you don't all breeds are welcomed on this ride. All horses and riders should be able to ride at least 25 miles a day. This is merely an average, and miles per day will vary according to the group riding, terrain, and weather.
Will there be a support vehicle?
Yes, a support crew will accompany the ride. They will make preparations for the riders for each days ride. In additon we will have one pack horse.
The support team will arrange for food for each day. We may not have access to showers except on our two-three day layovers, but we will have the opportunity to "wash up" Laundry can be done during the layovers.
During the western portion of the ride the support team will remain with the riders daily, to provide water for the horses and AC for the riders!!
What will the pace of the ride be?
During each days ride, we will ride in Calvary fashion, stopping every hour to allow the horses to graze for a min of 15 minutes.. Miles per day range from the low of 12 miles to a maximum of 35 miles. We will vary our speed between the three basic gaits of walk, trot and canter. This will be determined by the riders accompany that days journey and what they are comfortable with. We want all riders to be safe on this journey, and no actions will be taken to jeopardize any riders safety at any time.
